Client data safe and systems up, all through tax time. IT support for Melbourne accountants and advisers.

Your files are full of tax file numbers, bank details and payroll records. That makes your practice a target, and the busiest weeks of the year are exactly when the fake ATO emails and "new bank details" requests arrive. We look after your computers, email and security so a scam email stays an email, not a crisis.

The problem

You hold the data scammers want most.

A small practice can hold the financial lives of hundreds of clients. Attackers know it. They don't need anything clever, just one tired person clicking one link in a busy week.

Tax file numbers in every folder

Tax file numbers, bank details, payroll and ID documents live in your inbox, your files and your practice software. Under the Privacy Act, anyone holding TFNs has to take reasonable steps to protect them, whatever the size of the practice. A serious TFN breach has to be reported.

Tax time is scam season

The ATO says impersonation scams peak at tax time, aimed at you and your clients. It also says it won't send unsolicited messages with a link to log in, but a good fake still lands mid-lodgement. Multi-factor sign-in on every account and staff who know the signs mean one click doesn't hand over the keys.

One email, one changed bank account

Get into one mailbox and an attacker can send a client "updated" bank details from a real address. The fix is part tech, part habit: locked-down sign-ins, and always phoning a known number before paying to new details.

A helpdesk for peak season

Monitoring and updates run in the background, and patches go on outside your working hours. When a computer won't cooperate on lodgement day, you call a real person who knows your setup. Managed IT support

High risk to a recognised standard in four months

A Melbourne law firm of ten-plus people started with shared passwords, sign-in gaps and an unsupported server. Four months later it was certified Level 3 (Gold) against a recognised Australian security standard. We still manage it today. Read the case study

Six hours a week of busywork, gone

A boutique firm was hand-collecting data from two government registries every week. We automated the whole job in a one-week project. About six hours of skilled staff time came back each week, roughly $37,000 a year at the firm's own staffing rate. Read the case study

Questions we get

IT for accounting and advisory practices, answered.

We're a small practice. Do privacy rules really apply to us?

If you hold tax file numbers, generally yes. Under the Privacy Act, anyone who holds TFNs has to take reasonable steps to protect them whatever their size, and a TFN breach that's likely to cause serious harm has to be reported. Registered tax and BAS agents also have a confidentiality duty under the Tax Practitioners Board's Code of Professional Conduct. This isn't legal advice on your obligations, so check the detail with your adviser.

Does the ATO require multi-factor sign-in?

For most online practice software that connects to the ATO, yes. The ATO requires those software providers to use multi-factor sign-in for every user, and you log in to Online services for agents with myID and RAM. The ATO also recommends turning on multi-factor sign-in for every account and device in your practice. We set that up and keep it on.

Will you work with the software we already use?

Yes. Whether you run Xero, MYOB, XPM, FYI or something else, we look after the computers, sign-ins, email and network around it, and we deal with the software provider when something needs their help.

What does it cost?

Managed support is a predictable fixed monthly fee, based on your team size and what you need. The free Security Scorecard comes first, so you get a clear plan and a clear price before you commit to anything.

Can you come on-site?

Yes. We're based in Greensborough and come on-site across Melbourne's north and east. Most issues we fix remotely and fast, and when something genuinely needs hands on it, we come to you.

We also look after law firms, medical centres and engineering firms, and provide managed IT support and cyber security across Melbourne. See where we work.
